| The Creation
of Rain - Freedom Cd... Rain is a song that
I love playing live & still love to listen to
it on the cd. I really enjoy listening to my guitar
trading lines with Victor playing the flute. The flute
during the intro reminds me of Jethro Tull.
Rain begins as a really
nice soft ballad, then picks up towards the end with
one of my favorite electric guitar solo's. (the solo
is available for guitar players to learn on my guitar
lessons page).
The story behind the recording
of this song is very interesting. The song was tracked
at my home studio. The drummer played upstairs while
we recorded and listened downstairs. The dejembe (the
big drum you hear durning the begining) was recorded
in my upstairs bathroom.
Rain I believe was the
last song I recorded for the cd and at this time we
were having troubles locking up the computer to the
multitrack recording deck. So I made a decision to
record this last song 2 tracks at a time. That meant
recording a click track and scratch guitar. Then we
recorded the drummer playing dejembe, then only kick
and snare, then hi hat & symbols. then toms, etc...
once the drums were completed I recorded my rythym
guitars, then the melody, then came bass, flutes,
horns, electric guitar, etc...
The Freedom cd took over
3 years to create and I'm very proud of it. It was
during a time when we did not have a budget and studio
time and equipment was very expensive. Thanks to great
friends, a lot of sleepless nights, lots of borrowed
equipment & doing whatever was nescessary to get
the music recorded, we did it!
