A Langley guitarist
explores flamenco and world beat
"Freedom" is
very well put together, and comes from one of the
area's premier flamenco guitarists.
Gilliat quotes influences
such as Paco de Lucia, Paco Pena, and Sabicas,among
others, names that are probably unfamiliar to the
mainstream listener.
But Gilliat's fluid style
warms the listener's ear quickly, allowing one to
drift with the emotions of the songs, rather than
just wowing them with his obvious talent.
The "Freedom"
CD is an easy listen, with songs floating from one
to the other, putting the listener in mind of a patio
seat at Los Margueritas, with the sun beaming down
and a smile on your face.
